U4ia Textile & Apparel Design

Using U4ia students will be able to: create original textile designs; develop companion prints to complement textile designs; rework, rearrange, and recolor existing designs; develop presentation boards, hangtags and labels; and produce production-ready advertising and promotional materials. Training and experience with U4ia software will give students the opportunity to create professional-quality projects for their employment portfolios, and will produce industry-ready graduates for the textile/apparel and softgoods industries. U4ia course will include: Introduction to U4ia . Basic Navigation Getting Started . Flat Drawings Working with Flat Images . Working with Color Applying Prints to Flat Drawings . Selecting a Fabric Print Preparing the Fabric Print . Introduction to Print Development Working with Fabric Motifs . Color Palettes Custom Palettes . Standard Palettes Designs a) Plaids - Creating stripes without a weave pattern Advanced Designs a) Knit Stitching b) Changing Flats to Knits c) Yarns d) Creating Yarns Tonal Prints a) Reducing - Selecting suitable prints - Reducing a tonal print b) Recoloring - Recoloring a reduced tonal print Materials: A notebook and for notetaking and a USB Pendrive on which to save your work. Duration: 6 hours per week for 5 weeks
